I got an assortment from Mcmurray hatchery in the beginning of April. They’re 6 weeks now, and I have a variety of chicks, including one light Brahma and 4 EE’s. There is one chick that has always been more flighty than the rest, she has a single comb, yellow legs, and she was that oh so popular chipmunk color as a baby. I can’t figure out what she is. I was thinking biefelder? (Sp) any thoughts are welcome!

Thank you! I appreciate the replies! I tried to get a good picture of her (gosh I hope it’s a her) but she’s so darn flighty, she definitely doesn’t like to sit still for long. Do

Earlobe color will reveal her breed with time. Leghorns have enamel white earlobes but it takes a bit to develop. With her flighty temperament, I would wonder if Leghorn is likely...

So I pretty much won’t know until I figure out what color egg it lays? Should be interesting as I have 2 pullets that are white leghorns from the same batch (I think 🤔)

You'll know when she has visible earlobes. Red will indicate Welsummer and white Leghorn. Body types between the two breeds are also quite different!!
Thanks, I will definitely keep that in mind, it’s my first year raising chickens, and I swear, they leave me with more questions than answers sometimes 🤔
