Brown egg laying chickens

Most sex links and hybrids are prolific layers, as you have learned from the above post. The true downside is that the hybrid flocks must be replenished every few years because their bodies cannot function properly as they age due to the high number of eggs laid. I'll pitch for heritage breeds like Rhode Island Reds, Australorps, or Leghorns (white egg, I know, but fantastic layers) because they last! If heritage are a no go, then go with sex links.

I just got some brown leghorns this year and they just started laying about a month ago and so far, they don't lay as good as sex links. It seems like RSL layed just about everyday, but I think they eat more than leghorns. I think I will get some BSL and RSL. I was just curious to see what everyone had to say which kind they would suggest.

That is what I do with my other chickens too. I only have 5 RSLs so I don't know what the others are like. Right now they are 1 1/2 years old so next spring they will be 2 years old. Then I order more and get rid of them because in my other breeds, I notice a decrease in egg production after they reach 2 years old. That sounds great about the BSL's that they lay good in the winter and all year round. I want to get some of them and RSLs to compare them next year. Around what age do they start laying? My reds was around 18 weeks I think.

My BSLs usually start laying from 20-24 weeks, sometimes a little earlier. I think that the earliest I ever had one lay was 17 weeks.

Leghorns are by far the most efficient feeder when compared to any other bird. A local farmer makes a layer mash, and I have gotten Rhode Island Reds, RSL, BSL, Australorps and Leghorns to lay 7 eggs a week for long spans when using his feed. Feeds can make the difference. I preferred the eggs from RSL and BSL because they are brown (kind of silly because they're all the same), but white eggs have become so conventional that brown seems better haha. Leghorns are also very difficult to handle. I've only had one that wasn't completely freaked out by the idea of handling. My personal flock is all Rhode Island Reds and Partridge Rocks, and I've had excellent laying from both.

That's the problem with Leghorns. They are high strung and flighty. Mine screamed bloody murder every time I tried to handle them, and in really cold winter weather, my Sex Links, and sometimes even my Black Australorps, outlayed them.

How good are the golden comets? Are cinnamon queens the same thing as red sex links just another name?

Will you help me that after how much time from time of birth of chicken i should shift them from brooder to coop

You should keep them in a brooder about 5 weeks. Make sure they have adequate heat and a way to move away from heat as they feel is needed. Start at 95 degrees and decrease by 5 degrees each week until they're fully feathered. If you already have full grown chickens in your coop you're going to want another temporary one for the chicks. You wouldn't really want to integrate them with adults until they're of like size.
