Brown Leghorns: Pics, Info, and Resources

Pics
I think that the front one does look male... Especially if I am seeing the stripes correctly.

If the back one has more distinctive stripes, a bigger, wider triangle on the top of her head with clearer margins, then the one in the back is a definite female, and the one in front male.

Dunno why I didn't mention that before.... :idunno You can tell the sex by the stripes.

These are 2 of the dark brown leghorns I have been growing out as possible replacements for my current rooster. IDK about them. To me the red one has better confirmation and yellower legs, but he is red. The white in the wing of the dark one bothers me. They were hatched Oct 23 so they are about 4 1/2 mo. old. On the other hand they are still young. I would appreciate comments. Both of them may go to the crock pot. I have younger possibilities too!

:D

No worries.... They must have gotten scrambled in shipping, only two made it to lockdown, and they still aren't hatching!!! (Should have today) so,
I will see what I have tomorrow.

@cree57i

Your eggs rock.

Only two eggs made it to lockdown, both of them yours, and one of those hatched and is doing very well (even though I stupidly tried to kill it... I was having an idiot moment). Actually pretty impressive.

Cute little bugger. I haven't yet looked at it closely enough to guess boy or girl. Those dark browns have almost invisible stripes.
