Brown Rice

My chicks LOVE Brown Rice. I have to confess that I cook a whole pot once a week, it simmers for about 45 minutres. But I felt gulity, I thought darn, too much starch, but I put a nice helping of Tropican Baby Hand feed formula on the rice. 22% protein. So, they love it, I call them before hand, and they just go crazy.
I give them nice greens afterwords, Red Leaf Lettuce, Romain, and watever is really green. Geez they live pretty nicely.
Anone else do different feeding??

Chickens LOVE and I mean LOVE rice, brown, green, white, they dive in fast. I can only imagine what the think it is...

I give ours the left over rice as a treat and its a great whole grain.
I don't purchase goodies as an extra but they get the edible left overs from salads, peelings and fruits.
Some old timers claim that feeding like this can interfere with egg laying, but I'd rather have spoiled egg layers seeings they are my buddies! Enjoying your birds is what life should be about!

Yes, I buy long grain brown rice at Aldi's, good price. I will cook up a pound of lean ground beef and mix in for some meat protein and my birds love it.

Of course the long grain brown rice is the only kind I eat also.

I have been feeding my marans some rice, sweet peas, carrots and spinich. They love it!
