Brown Spots on Brown Eggs

Hello All,
Haven't posted in a while. Life's been busy. Couple of questions...first, I have had a couple of eggs with some light blood on them. Found out that can be common in new laying hens. Ok, second...the same eggs have small brown spots on the exterior of the shell that can actually be scraped off with a fingernail. Can anyone help me with identifying the cause of this? Thanks in advance.

Nothing to worry about.....just pigment. I like the speckled eggs that my girls give me....looks like an Easter basket!

My ISAB always lay an egg with a bump of brown stuff on it. I think it's just a calcium bump.

Sounds like just some speckling of pigment. I personally love eggs with speckling or pigment variation like a bit of ombre... makes for a prettier egg basket.

Well, the brown spots are very small. Not much height to them, but they do scrape off and wash off when rubbed. Does that help define this problem a bit more. I just want to know that my hens are ok.

I have had eggs like that. I think it's just calcium or pigment. It's fine, don't worry.
