Based on the shape of this egg, I'm assuming it was laid by my bantam cochin, Helen. She's 15 months old and has always laid brown eggs. The one from yesterday was white!

Helen lays the most adorab;e squatty looking eggs that look just like her...small and round. She gets lots of sun, a layer feed, lots of treats, plenty of fresh water with ACV and either egg or oyster shells. All my chickens get this.

It's possible my Lola, an OEG bantam silver duckwing looking hen (i'm not sure what she is honestly!) has laid it. We've never known her to lay at all, so maybe this is hers..I don't know.

Does anyone have experience with a brown layer suddenly laying a white egg?

Thanks!

Some antibiotics (Nicarbizane and aureomycin) can cause that to happen. You may not give it to your birds on purpose, but it comes in "broiler feed" I guess. (must have read same article recently in Backyard Poultry!)

I recently read an article on different causes of it, including a gas leak?

Since my hens have always done it, I don't worry about it.
