My 3 year old is totally oohing and aahing. The goslings are already noticeably bigger! That little Call has the sweetest face! Are turkeys like the pigs of poultry? :D

And that's like a regular pie tin sized pie tin right? LOL That gosling is dwarfing it!

Yes I swear they double in size in no time! They're growing way faster than the turkeys did. And Thanks! She's one of the many rescue animals I've taken in and seems to be fine with the mallards. I think Turkeys may very well be the little piggies! I'm trying to limit the feed so he doesn't have leg issues. They were *Suppose* to be palms but they ended up being BBW. Which is useless in my situation because I don't eat meat. LOL yes it is! They originally had a chick feeder but Bruce couldn't eat from it so I just grabbed a pie tin

Do you know if it's a tom or hen? Toms are so dang pretty! Err handsome. :p I love large animals. I am not sure why...my dog? Rottweiler. My lizard? The largest I could affordably house and care for (bearded dragon). My hands down favorite duck...Pekin - the fatties with a comedian side stole my heart. First pick for chickens...Buff Orpington. Now geese- Brown African (not the smallest). And I want some turkeys eventually. Eventually. :D I bet the mama + gosling journey is so awesome to witness though. I have read the geese are generally such good parents!

With the behavior of this one I think tom but this is my first year raising turkeys. I'm a large animal fan as well. Almost all the small animals I have are rescues. You have a beardie?

They are gorgeous! The only reptiles I've had have been a few snappers and a RES. I love lizards and snakes though. If only I didn't already have a house full of fish tanks

. So far the gosling experience has gone pretty well and can't wait to watch them grow up. This is much better than my terrible duckling experience.

Oh yeah I love my beardie. :D

I post pics of her sometimes. She's my baby, a year old next month. 2 years ago I was absolutely terrified of all lizards. Now I doctor up the blue bellies and alligator lizards the kids drag in. :) Country living with do that to you!

You had a bad duck experience? Ahhh! I'm sorry. :( Each time we get a new critter- I'm always anxious. A little anxious about the geese next week. You just don't ever know!

She's stunning!

Is yours easily handled? I know a few people who have them but they don't get much attention. And Yes I had a bad experience with breeding a crested drake
th.gif

Which the main reason I advocate against breeding any crested specimens. I'm the same way with snakes! I used to be terrified of them until I held a friend's boa. It's one of the sweetest creatures I've ever met!

She is a peach! Seriously. All my children can hold her. She never bites or even acts like it. I've had one year olds hold her. She gets a lot of attention for the most part. She might get overlooked a day here or there (not with food and everyone stops by to stay hi to her all day long) but she comes out about 6 days a week to roam the house. Supervised. Most of her time out is spent on the back of this couch in 'her' window. She just loves looking out. She is fearless and will walk over the cats if they are in her way. The cats respect her. She is over a pound in weight and is maybe 20 inches long so something walking around that size I guess is to be respected. :p She snuggles with me some nights.

If you can get over the cost of food (which is rather high for the first year) and nail the lighting and temps- they are such a great family pet. They do not urinate, only poop a couple times a week. Not messy animals by any stretch. I think anyone with birds already knows - if you don't handle them a lot as babies you aren't going to have a very people friendly bird. Same thing here. :D

Oh YEAH- that's right. I totally remember now reading about your crested. I have 1 crested and it will stay that way. I think we briefly chatted about this before...since I also had some other cresteds die on me early on. We adore him so he is our pet. But we don't want any babies from him.

I am warming up to snakes. I have caught a couple tiny racers and stuff around the house and that's all I have guts for- so far. Living in rattle snake country always keeps me on edge.

She sounds like a excellent beardie! Does she take reptile pelleted food or live feeding? I've heard feeding them was a bit pricey at first but I think I'd be able to handle it. Luckily, being a aquarist for years has helped me with at lot temperature and lighting. Those to this day proper lighting for my planted tanks is a bit of a struggle

. I had no clue they didn't urinate! Yea cresteds are so much more fragile I'm surprised hatcheries even breed with them anymore. Racers are so adorable when they are young! Luckily I haven't had any predatory issues with snakes yet but the neighbor's escaped Viper came close!
