I feel so bad for your family. We just lost our first chickens, and it was devastating. We also just got some geese (Brown Chinese) and had no idea the personality they have! It took me a couple of days after losing my chickens to let the tears flow. Then, it was a few days after that when I was able to sit down and enjoy free-ranging with my survivors. We all stay close to each other. They didn't want to come out of the pen for several days. I carried my big Cornish around for a while, and she would come into the backyard and putter around with me while I was gardening, but no one wanted to be out without me literally standing right next to them. I still carry my .22 outside with me in case the dog comes back.
People don't understand. That's why this board is so important.
Even my DH was a little shocked when the tears finally came.
People are just insensitive jerks.
But, this could have happened in town, too. I used to live in Tulsa, we had coyotes, foxes, hawks, and numerous other predators,
right in town! Don't let them get to you, and just post here when you do get down. That's what we're here for!
