Bruised Turkey

Hello, my 1 year old tom was chased by a dog and fell on a hard surface a few times. It’s been 3 days and he now has bruising along his underside (chest and belly). He won’t stand but he is eating and drinking. How long should I expect for recovery? Anything I should be doing up help him?

Hopefully there is no injury to his pelvis or legs. I would separate him from any birds that might pick on him and let nature take its course. Good luck.

I had a bird bruised like that that a dog had attacked. The bruising was actually intestinal fluids leaking from being crushed by the dog. Not saying that's your case but keep an eye out for that.

Update: one leg is forward and one leg is back. The right side of his underbelly is now black. He still won’t stand but eats and drinks well. Any ideas?

This is just me but I'd have to put him out of his misery. Birds won't show pain and weakness for fear of being attacked by flock members. Unless your gonna take it to a vet and get it medically professionally fixed you're just prolonging the inevitable.
