Bruises all over egg at hatch time

How did your duckling do after that?
How did your duckling do after that?
Baby was great other then he had a v shape on the side of his neck bone preventing him from living a normal duck life
I tried everything I could to help him
Vet bills at over 700
I took him to a back and neck therapist who got his back to neck to straighten and got his crop that was to the side to drop out front but that neck bone wasn’t budging. As he got bigger and more weight it caused him to loose progress we had made
At a few days shy of 4 weeks I had to decide if quality of life would ever be there
I was still needing to feed and water him every 2 hours ( through the night and all day ) I would have to help him bath as he would loose balance then panic and start doing tight circles going under. I had to help him walk
I helped him preen as well as used my finger to spread his oil on him as he had got it clogged and infection from not being able to reach it
He could get a bit of his tummy if I help my hands on each side so he didn’t fall over he could reach a bit of his right side but not his back or left side
He really loved to preen he tried so hard
I would hold my hands on each side of him to help balance while eating as he would fall over and not be able to get himself up
He tried so very hard to be better He wanted it
He loved to cuddle and was most content when on my lap
He didn’t even care about the big ducks when I would take him out to enjoy sun and grass
They would all run over to the fence to see him and he didn’t even look at them he just wanted to know where I was 😆
So with the heaviest heart I had him put down on Monday
I know he would have been happy to sit on my lap all day forever but it’s not a life for a duck
Sorry I didn’t reply on Thursday I was struggling to even talk about it
If he didn’t have the neck bone like that he would have thrived and been up and going weeks earlier

Ducks I have noticed more than chickens, you mentioned bruising, it is not bruising, the duck in the egg is a darker color than the egg, the color is showing through.
No it was bruising from him hitting veins. He had a full yolk left and no veins visible. The bruising ran in all directions like veins
It was crazy
He was squished from both ends blocked by membranes and air cells so he was squished in the middle unable to move at all. I put a hole by his beak and I could clearly see his yolk sac that’s how squished he was. Because he had ruptured his veins he had no oxygen help and was not able to breath in and out like he should. He was struggling hard so I opened the shell enough to get his head and neck out and left him for 16 hours to absorb
There was no veins that I could even see when I had his neck out
His feet were against his yolk sac
He was truly in the wrong position

What a truly moving, beautiful story.
You have a heart of pure gold, all that you did for him is simply amazing.
It literally brought tears to my eyes.

He is now happy and healthy over The Rainbow Bridge! 🌈

Blessings. ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you
Rereading my post brought me to heavy tears
Not a day goes by that I don’t miss my little sidekick
I still can’t watch videos of him or look at pictures without having big cries
He definitely has affected me more then any other duck
RIP my little torpedo ❤️
