I've been debating whether or not to create this thread...part of me feels like it could be jinxing him, but at the same time we could really use the good vibes and support.
This Saturday we brought home a 4 1/2 month old boxer mix. We got the devastating confirmation today that he has parvo. We are seeing all the horrible classic symptoms and he is one very sick boy.
Fortunately, we have an absolutely fantastic vet. They got us in first thing this morning. Being a small rural clinic however, they did not have isolation space, so they gave him an anti-nausea injection and sent us back home to handle supportive care ourselves. If all goes (more or less) smoothly he'll go back for a recheck on Thursday, but I'll be checking in with them daily.
So far he has been doing well with the sub q fluids. Still alert, and still waits to be taken out to go potty, but also still refusing food and water. This is only the end of the first day of treatment, and I know I can't expect too much but I really was hoping to see some interest in food/water by tonight.
He is such a sweet boy, my heart goes out to him. He barely knows us, and having to go through something like this in a strange place with strangers must be truly awful. I'm living for every minute little tail wag.
