That sounds good. Have you just tried adding water to chicken feed to make an oatmeal consistency? Oats apparently are not good in large amounts for chickens.

Yeah, I usually cook the oatmeal, but I figured a small amount of dry pieces thrown in with her chicken food would help her to forgive me for the nasal treatment. But to be honest, I actually didn't know that the dry wasn't good for them, as I normally put some into their scratch as a daily treat. I won't continue to do that anymore, and just be sure that it's either cooked or moistened for now on.

I just got done putting another drop of peroxide into her nostril. OMG -- it's finally starting to loosen up so that I can dig more gunk out. I'm really starting to think that she had some sort of infection brewing in her nostril. Not only did stuff come out the color of food, but also some dark crusty crud. And it started to bleed a little, despite me trying to be super careful with the end of a feather. There still appears to be a little more gunk when shining the flashlight inside, but the airway is open. I will try another treatment again tomorrow. In the meantime, I also gave her a foot bath to clean off her dirty feet, along with a nail trim. Of course, a blow dry of all wet feathers to end off the spa treatment. Now she's back in her box enjoying some oats.

Sounds like you are making progress! I'm hoping getting that all cleared out will help with the eye problem.

Oh my goodness!!! I really had no idea that oatmeal was bad! I've read that so many people either cook it or give it dry to their chickens. I'd normally give a small amount mixed in warm water with their normal chicken feed. I thought I was doing a good thing, as I thought oatmeal was so good. Thank you for sharing this article. I won't be giving oatmeal anymore.

She had a Spa Day! Did she like it?

I will be trying another cleaning this afternoon --- she really isn't happy when I do it. I hesitate doing a drop of peroxide with her airway open now, so maybe I'll just put some on a q-tip so that it doesn't drain into her sinuses.

As far as the Spa Day, I think she mainly enjoyed the blow dry - lol. I gave her some chicken feed this morning moistened with some homemade milk kefir. Trying to get her gut back in order.
