Hi,

One of my 6 hens seems ill, she is about 2 yrs old, a rhode island red hybrid, she hasn't been laying for about 6 months but seemed ok in herself apart from recently she started sneezing and then yesterday she seemed tired and not her normal self then I noticed she had bubbles blowing out of both her eyes in the front corners, whats wrong with her? Do I need to do anything?

When mine had those symptoms, they were diagnosed with MG. I called the state vet (which I found through our Dept of Agriculture website) and had them test my birds (for free).

Bubbles in eyes is the sign of a respiratory infection. Get Tylan 50 injectable. Give each bird if adults each a 1 cc shot. It's an intramuscular injection, that should be given in the breast. Find the point of the keel bone(breast). Inject the bird half way between the keel and the wing base. Always hold the bird on it's back & keep the syringe pointing upward while injecting.

What does this injection do?
Is this infection contagious to the other chickens? Should I separate her? Do you know what has caused it?
Thanks
