I have a roughly 60 pound feed container that I am going to turn into a feeder. It's square, so it gives 4 good sides for entry. My question is on the 90 degree elbows. Is there any magic to them? Like, why not use 45s? Just curious.

With a 90 degree, the feed is slightly deeper and chances of it being billed out are slim to none. with a 45 degree, the feed is closer to the horizontal bottom of the edge where it enters container. Potentially easier to get feed billed out, at least in theory.
Try one of each and see how it works out. Then add ether 2 45s' or 2 90s'

I just took out the Elbows on my bucket feeder and just let them eat through the holes, They like it better, I think because they can see it. It just may be my silly Hens though.
Just make sure the feed is low enough that they can't bill it out.
