In many hobbies, if the hobbyist doesn't make a profit of some sort, they are more prone to burn out and quit. If it's not money, then maybe it's wins in the show ring that keeps them at it.

Whatever it is, what a breeder gets out of breeding must outweigh what they put in or discouragement often sets ... sooner or later.

I will have a tendency to support a breeder who wants to make a dollar or two. It is the American way and it is one of the best ways to assure the breeder's longevity. We need long term breeders instead of folks that breed for 7 years, get burnt out from not being appreciated or paid enough for their fine product and years of careful breeding and pen building, and then quits and sells their flock.

You all OK after the tornado storm, I hope ?
We here in the storm center had yet another T-storm/hail/rain % nasty winds Wed & Thurs so it will hit tornado alley about Sat or Sunday.hate to think it, but it may develope into the same type "storm " that blew over Ark & AL 2 days ago~~~~~~~~I am SOOOOO tired of this weather, cold & non stop storms !!!

Was anyone affected by the rash of storms last week , it missed us here in south Ga. but I know of others that were in the thick of it and have not heard of any damages they may have had .

UPDATE: That chick has passed. She was very weak and I didn't think it would make it.

Oh well.
