You have to love illegitimate practices. If you are having problems selling your fowl for what they look like, you shouldn't use other peoples pictures!!! Always do your research before just buying eggs, chicks or birds from ANYBODY!

You know you can report that to eBay. Look for the link for REPORT ITEM, where you can report the fact that that's your image.

Or better yet, if they're using a link, just replace the photo with something else.

Or did they do a right-click and steal your photo? That is really annoying. I don't blame you for being upset. I fight this sort of thing all the time with my business, it's just wrong on so many levels.

In as much as it looks like a red bird with a pea comb, sure, it 'fits".

I'm not following this comment. This was billed as the champion bird that fit the SOP in 1916 the best of any bird around. Has the SOP been revised since then? Because it seems to me that our current crop of Buckeyes doesn't look like this bird. For one, the sickle feathers are a lot longer. I'm seeing flatter backs and the feathering isn't nearly as tight as this bird. So what changed? If it wasn't the SOP, then why do Buckeyes look different from 1916?

And this question isn't confined to Buckeyes. On the Heritage Large Fowl thread there is plenty of discussion about bigger birds winning at shows even though they are outside the SOP. Lots of discussion about how the breeds have changed over time, and not all of that is due to the glut of hatchery birds either.

This looks like a new seller. They only have one item and they only have 5 instances of feedback, all from sellers. This may be the first time they've ever sold anything on eBay and they probably just scoured the web for a "commercial" picture since they can't take good pictures. This happens ALL the time on eBay where people pull a pic from a dealer site instead of using the actual item they are selling. Not saying it's right, just that it happens all the time.

Also, what good thing happens if Joe is successful? If the seller takes down the pic and replaces it with a "commercial" pic from a hatchery, will that help promote the breed? Just sayin'. Sometimes we can win the battle and lose the war. Probably better to have a good relationship with another Buckeye seller than it is to tick people off that we don't even know for an unintended (probably) offense.

Wow. No I don't. I know it's not me. Hmm. Will have to make some phone calls, and will certainly try to find out who it is. How odd.

Edited to add: Of course, anyone can put anything in that field. You can put just "United States" in your listing. Or if you put your zip in wrongly, you could have it show as Williamstown, even if you weren't in Williamstown.

Just saying.

I'm not upset...I don't get upset. Actually flattered, that this individual thinks the picture is "representative" of the breed. Just passing the good word along to help others avoid "questionable" people and poor practices.
