Alright, Picture time!!

Light line chicks

This pic is pretty accurate as to their real life color...

Biggest Light Line next to my smallest Lay Line birds

4 of my Lay Gang

Bigger, wider Lay egg next to smaller, narrower Light egg. I wonder if these "Light Line" were pullet eggs?

I don't think I've ever hatched one that was that blonde! The darkies come from nice shaped eggs...good size.....says something about the hens they came out of!!! Notice how the color of the shell is also a darker brown.......Jeff is doing something right!

Yeah, I'm a little worried about what the lights will look like as adults

Hopefully *fingers crossed* they'll turn out decent, but I guess we'll see.

Well, It can't be any worse than the surprisingly feather legged "Pure German Strain NHR". Half of these have feathered shanks. Auto cull pile. Payed a lot for these too.

There is a chance.....however small......they might lose those. I've seen stanger things. Furthermore......look at the similarities in color between the "lighter line" and these birds........NH's are awfully orange ;)

Weighed all of the chicks again today. The biggest cockerel is right at 2lbs exactly. They seem quite happy on the back porch, none of them seem at all bothered by the fact that it's a good 10-20 degrees cooler out there than in the house. I have the heat lamp on just in case (and to keep the water from freezing if it gets that cold overnight) but I'm sure they don't really need it. Someone had asked for pictures, so here we go:

This is the biggest cockerel. I know they're not the best shots, but they weren't very cooperative this afternoon.

And one of the chicks in the brooder. I think all 7 of them are in this shot, though you can only see one of them really well (also a cockerel, I believe).

Blu, The NHR are more of a glowing orange where the Light strain are more of a peachy blonde, but I get your drift. I'm so curious to see how these birds turn out! :D

Aina, Those are beautiful! I can't wait til my biddies look like that!

No comment on color!!!!! I'm going to go ouside my comfort zone and thank the ABPC for sponsoring breed trophies.

Hey Joe:

Thank you for showing your Buckeyes this past weekend at the Wapakoneta show and CONGRATULATIONS on your Best of Breed (BB) and Reserve of Breed (RB) wins!

Chris
