I woke up to 9 babies in the bator!!

The last 3 haven't even pipped yet but I am going to leave them alone until at least tomorrow. If there are no pips when I get home I will remove the 9 that have hatched and move them to the brooder. Maybe when I get home from work there will be more to greet me.

I usually have a couple of broody hens when I get back from the fair, which is held from April 15th-25th. If not, I guess I'll be ording the chicks. Either way, I will be getting in touch with you then, if that is ok.

Thanks,

Angie

I'm already sold out to early April, If you want on the list you might want to place an order now to be sure you get them on the dates you'd like.

My son got an adult male Buckeye from Jen. He is in a rabbit hutch, as we are attempting to make a show bird out of him. Seems content to be in the cage....except when the cochin bantam male next door has a "date". Plan on moving him to a larger cage soon with a hen. My son is 8 and they are just getting to know ech other. Yesterday Buck would not let him in the cage to feed. Not aggressive, just eager to eat. I walked over. took the feed, poured it in....and held Buck for several minutes until I released him. Then I stroked his feathers on his neck while Buck ate. Works for agressive dogs. Seems to work on Buckeyes. We also give the leftover farmstand pumpkins to them. So Buck has a pumpkin to stay busy with.

Anyone have any or know anyone with Buckeye eggs around the Quad Cities IA/IL? My one bantam hen just started acting broody and I'd love to put some eggs under her...but would like to pick up locally.

I won't give up for at least another day or so. If there are still no new pips when I get home I am going to candle and see if they are moving around, if so I will leave them for another day or 2.
