BUCKEYES FOR BUCKEYES in OHIO

Okay, I bite. I just have to try these birds. (Now to build a new coop to house all my spring chickens.) This truly is a fever I've developed.

Gotta love the fluffy butts. I often think about how I feel when I'm working with chickens and chicks and honestly I almost always have a smile on my face, it truly is enjoyable, it truly is a labor of love. Watching a new fluffy butt crack into the world is a life changing experience, to know that you had just a little bit to do with helping that little guy breathe it's first breath, to peep it's first peep, to imagine the generations after the chick, all perpetuating a once near extinct breed being kept from the brink one pip at a time. The world just seems like a kinder and gentler place when there are chicks hatching.

I really am glad that the egg progress is promising for everyone, I'm happy that efforts have not been given in without reward.
Peace,
Dave

P.S. Becca, I received payment, let me know when you are ready.

Marlinchaser,

I don't think it's a poll for favorite breed. It's a poll for which breed you think is most popular. Different thing.

You read it your way, I will read it mine, Buckeyes are most popular for me. read thier answers, most people dont even know what a silkie is but they are getting a vote. Reality check most popular chicken is PURDUE, 99% of the world doesnt even know that CHICKEN is a animal, its just in the meat section of the grocery store.

as for your comment about smiling when working with the birds... I totally agree when ever I am angry at the world or upset about something I totally go to the barn. the birds make me like people more!

It is fun. meeting the little fluffy butts, feeding them and watching them grow, packing them up and watching them go, then starting the whole process over again, good times, good times.
Peace,
Dave

P.S. I will pack em up and get em to you soon, I promise!

Out of the first four I hatched from BuckeyeDave, three are hens. The answer to your question, definetly possible to get two out of three. I have five more Buckeye chicks in the brooder, but I haven't been able to tell sex yet.
