Buckling down and backwards building ccop

Ugh. One package short of wiggle boards. Estimating a week to ship to home/store.
However in stock in stores an hour away. Roaaad trip!
This is what my spouse gets for feeling accomplished?

Also I can't believe how much more growing these birds get to do. Not even 8 weeks for the standards and their feet are already comfy on a 4x4 post.

Meanwhile the best bantam pullet is perching in the pear tree wrapping toes around a thumb sized branch like a sparrow.

Cutting down some of the better salvage 2x4 from shed for gaps and interior and have determined that scrap walls will get used for poop deck just to be thrifty.

Monday after a fun fun weekend of roofing- fiasco adjacent.

I was previously thinking people that did late fall/winter builds were crazy, but I suspect they did not have to deal with borderline heat exhaustion and sunburns.

And it is raining today and the front area (the only thing finished)is actually dry inside!

The back should go much better. Knock on wood. Different mistakes?

Feeling like the best thing for all my wall gaps is jamming hardware cloth over them for summer ventilation cause ugh. Siding.

More rain this evening while not paying attention. Flurry and a scurry to round everyone up.
Confirming that under coop is a bit of a pita. Only some of the birds opted for under. The rest chose temporary rain corner.

Also so so drippy at the roof edge! Right down the back of your shirt looking in the scratch windows.

No idea how to pull off guttering, but it has rocketed up several places.
Also seriously considering making a side porch if a quarter of the birds are going to be shelter adverse.
I know it should be possible to make a door in the floor but meh.

The back wall will have a great overhang, but I have it in my head it needs to have as few drafts as possible for winter use. Especially since it angles opposite the sun facing front.

Mother forking roof is on.
Mostly
Gah.
Unexpectedly steep learning curve there.
For the sake of avoiding heat stroke, preserving marriage and maintaining injury free streak not going to do any guttering or side extensions beyond the unfinished lower overhang until some future date.

Hopefully the storms will hold off this evening to allow for siding in cooler conditions.

Seriously thing about bolting hardware cloth over all the openings if not. ..

from the kitchen sink it almost seems respectable.
Still needs plenty of interior work and a good portion of exterior.
Locked them in last night. They did not approve. Found the semi transparent roofing confusing. Most did not roost.
Still dubious this morning but bopping around. Leaving them in to be bored for a bit.
Not necessarily because the doors are screwed shut....

Dog went into power bark mode at half 5 and chased something off.

So today they are out and about.
Have already found the gap in the underneath to the side of the yard that is nominally bird free. (they also enjoy hopping over the pallet fence that blocks them from being stampeded by the dog.

They are roosting in a 4/12 split on the sides of the temporary bar. Middle is very vacant. Not sure if it is the roof or the front windows or the perch itself.

Back door motion light on constantly all night long reacting to moths.

People without hearing loss (not I) observe that even bantam roosters are loud and annoying in the early morning and the coop is awfully close to the house.
Facebook friends shocked and appalled at massive size of structure for just chickens.

Except of course the back edge of the coop is maybe 3 ft from the forward edge of the fen, which is maybe 30 yards from the very foxy woods.

Waiting to see if birds are smart enough to take cover from forecast afternoon storms since they now have variety of options.

Have not yet made interior covers for the windows and attempting to convince spouse I'd rather have more siding bits then silicon fill all the small gaps.
