Buckshot got mauled by a dog

Let me offer my condolences to you and yours. I am SO sorry, and I really do know how you feel. Our little Fayoumi hen (in our icon) was killed by a stupid jack russell, as well as 2 of our EE's, and we were devastated. It hurts more than anyone could believe, he was your pet. Please don't feel bad for "shooing him", it sounds like he got lots of love from you and probably lots of treats as well. Plus you held him when he passed, loving him and making him feel safe. Jeez, I am sorry.

I know he could never be replaced, but HorseJody is correct, your friend owes you a new roo at her expense/travel. My daughter and I recently acquired 3 Fayoumi hens from some very nice folks we met here on BYC. They don't replace Ray, but they sure make us smile a lot and we love them as if we raised them from chicks ourselves

I am so sorry to hear about Buckshot. Your exfriend does owe you for the vet bill plus another roo. Even tho it won't replace Buck you can love it all the same. Remember how you loved him and how he loved you, remember the good times.

Want some advice? Don't keep a grudge with your friend. Instead, talk to her. If she doesn't listen,

do some research. maybe the dogs have attacked other chickens. In some states, you can sue for that.

Well, 24 hours later and I am doing OK. We had a little burial for Buckshot earlier, and he is at peace. I am mad as heck, thought about it all night long.......no sleep for me. What galls me out of the whole thing is, there was no apology.....and I had told her 10 times at least never to bring her dogs here. They kill her chickens, rabbits and whatever else they can get. She wont keep them penned up, and they kill on a weekly basis. I know it is not the dogs fault, and I am one to be realistic about that. I also keep my dogs under control at all times, and dont bring them to other peoples homes, and they leave all livestock alone. Oh well, that what makes the world go round......different people do different things.
I wish I had gotten those pics this weekend of him, he was so handsome......he was really strutting his stuff, and looked just like a textbook photo of a serama roo. He was wandsome, and he knew it.

I missed himin the barnyard today, his following me and took tooking to me with special treats. Oh well......life on the farm goes on. I will get more serams, I love them and he is responsible for that. here is a baby pic of him, I am sure you all are tired of seeing....but it too cute not to post again. Thanks again everone!!!!
