Budgie Help!?

I recently got a budgie a couple days ago, but I have a couple of questions, could any of you guess what gender it is? And if you could guess at the age that'd be cool too!

I would guess by the blue "nose" that you probably have a boy. Also with the "bars" on it's head, it's hard to tell from the picture but I would guess 4-6 mos. Mind you, it's a guess from a picture. If the nose stays blue or darkens you have a boy. If over time it turns pink or whitish, it's a girl.

Sexing by cere color is different for mutations. For example, my recessive pied will have a pink/purple cere when mature if it's a male.

Your parakeet is a mutation called "recessive pied". The cere's on recessive pied parakeets do not go blue for boys but a 'pink' colour. Girl recessive pied budgies stay the same, they go a white or brown colour. Judging by the pic your parakeet is a boy, although it is hard to tell. Normally to tell the age of a budgie you would look at the eye ring but because your parakeet is a recessive pied he/she will always keep their black eyes. Normally a baby budgie will have full black eyes, and when they mature a iris ring will appear. Judging by the bars on its head it is about...5 months old maybe...not too sure.
