Hey everyone,
My parakeet has just had a sneezing attack and looked like she was vomiting. She was wobbling her head around and her face is wet. Additionally, her tail bobs when she is resting and she in general just looks uncomfortable and sick. I can't leave the house to go to the vet due to COVID-19, so I was wondering for ways to ease her symptoms and make her feel better until we can bring her to the vet, which could be weeks to months right now. I can't go out to buy anything like medicine either. :( Maybe I could bring in my air filter but I don't know if that would help anything.

Thank you,

I'd recommend that you go online to buy meds (antbiotics). Budgies are good at hiding illness; once they look sick, they are bad off. With my birds (poultry) I've been using a product called, MEDION THERAPY A BROAD SPECTRUM THERAPEUTIC AGENT, with a high degree of success; even with tiny chicks the size of a quarter. MEDION may have something made for small cage birds. Whatever you do you need to do so quickly.

An air filter sounds like a good idea. Think through what you've been doing differently. Using nonstick pans more? Using any cleaners or disinfectants she could be reacting to? ...

Thank you for the suggestions.
Unfortunately, my budgie won't take medicine, and I don't think my parents will allow me to buy it online anyways since we have to focus on food and other things.
I've put a damp towel and a heating pad on the second-lowest setting to keep her cage humid, warm, and dark. I've also closed a drafty window and cleaned out her cage. She seems to be much better. She's been hopping around, all fluffy and vocal, and playing with her toys again. Maybe it's the surplus of cleaners and disinfectants we've started using after the outbreak or the stress of being moved to a different place in the room near the door?
