Buff Ameraucana Pics????

Does anyone have any pictures of a fully grown buff ameraucana hen. My little Buttercup is about 9 weeks old. I am wondering if she'll get more yellow coloring on her body as she grows (like the sample picture on my pet chicken) I don't see very many posts about buff ameraucanas on the message boards, are they popular???

True buff ameraucana are hard to come by. The ones you have pictured look more like easter eggers because they have dark green legs instead of the standard of slate blue legs required for ameraucana. They are very pretty though. They may develop better plumage color as they mature. Our young ones do vary in color a bit and it takes some time until you see their true color, but the for most part they are pretty buffy looking by 8-9 weeks and the color enhances as they mature more.

The whole ameraucana/EE thing confuses me.

Buttercup is really a buff EE? She has similar coloring to the hen they call "buff ameraucana". And the feedstore I got her from had them labeled the same. Oh well, I guess she's a mutt, but I'll keep her.

I do hope she gets the fluffy cheek feathers like my other EE. They are so funny.

EEs were created by crossing an ameraucana with another breed to give various plumage and egg colors. True ameraucana have standard colors and only lay blue eggs (altho some EEs will lay blue eggs too). I know it is a bit confusing, especially with so many hatcheries out there with misinformation of what they're selling. Do you know where your feeds store got them? Your girl's color looks very white in the pic...is she a really pale buff or is it really white? It's hard to tell by pictures sometimes. I do see nice muffs (puffy cheeks) on her, so I think you're good there. We have EEs too and love them just the same. They are a bit silly, aren't they?

I'm pretty sure now she's an EE. Her feathers are white except for the buttery yellow edges, hence the name Buttercup

Heres another pic that shows her feathers better.

I was just hoping she would get that yellow edging all over, now its on her head to the top of her wings. I am also hoping that her cheek tufts are yellow. Oh well, now I'll have to start introducing her as Buttercup the EE.

I ordered Buff Orps....and got a few of these...mutts???

They dont have the "muffs" but the slate colored legs...Hmmmm..cant waite untill they lay, just to se what color they lay.

A roo we gave away, Goldie, was a yellow chick. He then turned all white, and he started to get buff coloring around some of his feathers. I'm betting he looks something like Buttercup now. (Only more roo-ish.

) She has a cute little beard, but since she doesn't have them now she probably won't get muffs like your other EE.

She's lovely, whatever she is!!!

Hi backyardgirls, your buttercup looks more closer to the Blue Wheaten Female ameraucana than the buff ameraucana,

Below are a few pictures of my chicken Curry. I've been thinking that she's a Buff Ameraucauna but after seeing this string I was wondering what other people think? Here's the pictures:

She just started laying and her eggs are a pretty bright blue.

Curry is super pretty. We just hatched a Buff/Ameraucana and will hopefully have another one hatch in a couple of days. I'll post pictures as they age. I'm interested to see what they will look like. Big Roo is the Buff/Teeny Girl is the Ameraucana.
