Buff Barred Cochin Thread

How do you breed for this color? Is it a barred roo and a buff hen?

Breeding a black barred roo to a buff hen gets you 100% black barred kids but they are split so I would take the best roo back to the buff hen. It is hard to start from scratch but I am doing it some for bloodline diversity. I got a great starter pair from Lynne at Wingshadows Hacienda in CA. I have a gorgeous pair of buffs and I have black barred birds, as well. Takes me longer than some people but I breed with certain things in mind and usually achieve what I go after.

I wanted to start breeding these, found me some buff hens, traded my Muscovy babies for them...they look bad, will never trade with this person again...they away from the rest of my chickens....feathers are missing badly. Gave them some water yesterday with apple cider vinegar in it and have been giving a little chicken starter as well....next will be giving them a bath...they are looking better , then when I first got them

What would a red look like if bred to a barred

I think red to barred may eventually give you crele. I have the ingredients, I just haven't bred them yet. I have too many birds and too little time and energy to do all that I want to do!
