Buff Barred Cochin Thread

You all don't know how much these pics miss having Buff Barreds running around. I have one last chick from PB and Honey and need to get a pic of it sometime. He is 3 weeks old but not very friendly. He is the only one that runs from me when I open the door to his little brooder.

Awesome! They are totally gorgeous. We are making some head way, I suppose. I still have a ways to go but I did receive 7 from Aarron today. Two handsome boys and 5 lovely ladies. these will help me get my project going a bit more since the others have not been spectacular layers, except for Barbara.

I think I may call this little boy, Buck Wheat! LOL

This is Sweet Wheat!
OK I am loving your names!

Mike Aarron is on Facebook, not sure if he's here on BYC. I'll get his email for you if you'd like

He is adorable, Mike! I know he will be lovely!

A better photo of Buck Wheat. He is a bit of a rapscallion! He kept getting out of the isolation pen and roaming around the Guinea pens so I finally put him in a cage with some youngsters his age. Better that than getting picked off by a hawk, which was my fear.

Here he is with some of the girls I got from Aarron.

And here is Sweet Wheat with the two hens.

I have more coming next week. He said he was going to hang on to some but with all these coming to me I am not sure if he will have any left! I am happy though, I can now get this program going a bit better.
At the moment I have sold out several breeding programs that I loved but felt they were not really what I needed to concentrate on so I have open pens for breeding but am doing maintenance on them before adding birds back into them plus some good cleaning.

I can't wait to hatch from all these birds! I have so many ideas written out for breeding them all!

Sweat Wheat really looks great!! How old are he and Buck Wheat? Can't wait to see their chicks and how Buck Wheat matures. Also, congrats on finally getting your Buff Barred project rolling. And you said you have more coming? Are they hens or roos? Ready for pics already.:caf

That boy I just posted is the oldest living PB son Nugget who I got yesterday from Featherz. She was so very kind to give him to me. I don't know exactly what to do with him in the meantime until I can get some hens? I am not letting him free range so right now he is I a small 2X 3 coop by himself and when I'm around he runs the yard. Today he stuck with my Big man Bruce. But he is going to probly be inside a lot this week.
