I'm a newbie and wondering when you can tell if the chick is a rooster. She is a little larger than the other chicks (Speckled Sussex, Buttercup and Buckeye) her age. I'm hoping she's just a big girl. Any thoughts?

My brahma girl was always bigger than the rest. Still is! They are big chickens! She looks like a girl to me! Hopefully she is!

Size isn't usually a major rooster characteristic, so your bird may still be a pullet. It is too young to tell gender for sure, especially with slow-growing breeds like Brahmas.

I also have 3 buff Brahmas and I'm trying to figure out if they are roo's or pullets. Is it normal for a pullet to start growing the iridescent tail feathers? or is that just a roo characteristic?
I'll try to get pictures tomorrow.

Thanks!

Looks like a girl .....
