Sorry Jak, it's early in the morning for me and I'm feeling a bit cynical. lol I'm glad to hear you didn't get taken advantage of by your friend.

If you had ordered CM eggs from me they would have looked like this.

only darker more brown, not a great pic, but definitely dark.

And the chicks would have looked like this.

The lighter chick is a Delaware.
Yours seem to have noticeable white in the feathering mine do not. Barring is there in mine just not to be mistaken with a Barred Rock. Even my hatchery CM's were not that light in the feathering. Though the eggs are lighter than the one pictured. You can tell the difference.
As for the lighter one it is definetely not a CM.

Since as you state your friend paid for the eggs and hatched them, it's up to her to complain. Me, I be happy if someone gave me chicks. Unless they were Silkies.

Haha yeah i'm happy to havet he chicks, I just didn't want someone taking advantage of my friend. And if i'm sitting here with that informaiton, I kind of feel like its some kind of duty I have to do something about it. But she was hoenstly just happy to raise chicks, she just loves it. I feel bad though she paid nearly $70 for 3 chicks!

And I miss my silkies! I'd love to have more! But our next batch has 1-2 silkie eggs in it.

I have to ask where did you buy them? I would definitely let them know. If you eggs were not at least as dark as the ones I posted, I'd be very upset. And I definitely would want to know what breed the buff is. I've only got one that lays that dark egg so it would take me a week just to get 5-6. The others lay dark speckled eggs. Just where is Freedom?
