Thanks Pete and Celtic. It starting to get light here now, so I'll see how many of my poor slow running Toulouse need anything this morning.

I realize the most bold, the Africans, were OK, and the quick sebbies were mostly OK, but my slow moving galleons......

This mornings update: Baby Girl (on anti inflamatory and antibiotic) can't breath through one nostrel this morning, has drainage there. Its hard for her to breath through just the one, and she's still not eating at all. When she drinks, she kind of panics and flaps her wings, trying to clear breathway. Today should be her worst for swelling, so if she can make it through today, it should get easy for her. She's kind of struggling today, so any prayers and well wishes are well spent on her. She's the worst one off of the living. The other buff, in with baby girl, is walking around today, but I havn't seen her eat or drink. She is calm when I pet her, and hold her, but very timid. The tongue injury is no doubt painful. Anything I can give her???

We still have just 3 geese dead, and the others in the pen were out this morning, and all appear well. One bourben red turkey returned from afield (T.G. i didn't get around to trimming wings yet), and 2 Ancona males came out from under the porch, so I have 1 muscovey male (Spike), 3 Ancona males, 1 female Ancona, and one of DD's Indian Runners boys came out of the wooden T.P. we've been building for a pre-christmas bonfire. I think that 2 anconas and an Indian Runner were all hiding there. Oh, and Lucky earned her name, so we still have 1 female giant peking. Julia, the 7 year old, is delighted and has her in a cage now, refusing to let her out.

Marty, Sorry about the ancona!! Yay for Lucky!! I was afraid to ask last night but was thinking about her.

Medications: Call your vet and ask for silvadene creme. It is a sulfa based topical antibiotic to apply to wounds. Also get some meticam. It is the best pain medication for waterfowl.

As for the dog owners, the best thing to do is pursue criminal charges. Usually as part of a plea deal to reduce felony, prosecutors will require proof of restitution, ie payment to you for loss. That is the most effective, efficient and cost effective way to recover financial losses.

Morning Marty. You've got them on the right treatment, short term steroids (anti inflammatory) and antibiotics for secondary infections. Its a waiting game Im afraid. Just let them do their own thing and minimise any possible stress. Keep your water cold, fresh and topped up. They'll be ok for a few days without foodbut just try to get them drinking.

Maybe tempt them with some Romaine Lettuce (high water content) and red melon to pick at.

Iain, PM me, and I'll give you a call later. We're taking pics of actual dead birds and fence where they dug and pushed their way in. Also pics of other fences, to show that we've done our part to prevent such things. I've got a lawyer I'm using for an issue with city paving my corner, so I'll call him if the owners of the dogs are found. I'll be asking around with my friends in the neighborhood today to try and quietly find owner to get their address for police. That, or they will be calling to look for their dogs. I'd be wondering where mine were this morning, of course, my dogs are never allowed out like that. If one of ours disappeared, one of us would be on a scooter cruising, but we don't ever allow the big dog to do such nonsense.

Its a shame more dog owners dont respect others and their property enough to keep their dogs locked up or under control. Hopefully your poor injured girl will make a turn for the better by tonight. Glad you had returners from hiding spots today too. Just sent you an updated copy with the last Ancona on it.

Yes. Absolutely horrible. I was crying and shaking with rage when I talked to the police less than 10 minutes after I got home. Julia just set on a feeder and cried. Ruth and Bruce worked like crazy to get the living goose and the two living ducks from the pond. They washed them while I answered queestions, then I doctered them, calmed them, and checked them over. Had to apply major first aid to one poor ancona, hope he lives.

I know now why baby girl was down in the pond, don't I.

Marty so thankful to hear some of your ducks were able to hide and are now safe. I am pulling for Baby Girl and all the other injured to make it through this. Sure hope ya'll can find out who owns the dogs. They sure looked kinda poorly for malamutes they are usually pretty heafty dogs makes me wonder what kind of care they have been getting especially if running loose. Not trying in the least to make up for what those dogs did. Just thinking who ever owns them must not take very good care of them. I just hope some good can come out of it all with you getting restitution for loss and heart break. So sad. We have the same problem here with people letting their dogs run lose it's always in the back of my mind when I leave the house and see one running along the road. I know I mentioned this before and Iain gave you some names of meds not sure if silvadene can be put in your gooses mouth but i know Vetericyn can.
