Just got back from the vet.
After our initial talk, it was decided to leave Baby for an hour. She was sedated, and a thorough visual exam made of the inside of her throat, sinus as much as possible, and head/beak area. She doesn't have any injury that explains her eating issues, BUT they did find a wad of scab and then dried yellow infection pus almost completely blocking her ability to breath. While under anesthetic still, that blockage was removed, and she is clearly breathing much easier. They also gave her Lactated Ringers Solution (120 cc) to help her out, and she is now on Baytril 3cc injected in different locations daily, and also more Metacam (which she had the first 3 days) but now she will have it for 6. Her jaw is OK, but we were provided with stuff that should be easier to give to her now. Becasue of her weakend state, and the little food, it was decided NOT to give steriods, as they could cause severe organ damage.
I'm too continue offering her a variety of snacks (from the fecal sample they new she is eating very little, but appears to be eating something now and then) plus warm baths daily, to help her keep her internal beak area clean. She's also inside for 48 hours, so that I will now right away if she turns again. We will see him again on Monday to check on progress. I have his number if she takes a turn again sooner.
She is breathing and resting comfy right now. She was a huge hit in the waiting room, with everyone oohing and aahing over the poor sweet goose girl.
