Buff Dewlap Toulouse Thread

Pics
Here in the UK our young Buffs are doing well. We had them out today in the Spring sunshine in a baby pen on the grass. Still a little cool so my partner Rob insisted they came back indoors - clucking over them worse than any broody hen!

Can't say that I blame him!!! Those buffs are certainly special to Mr Pete! Don't let him fool ya...he was probably just as hen like!

Pete...don't you just love how sweet and accepting older goslings are to the newer babies...sure do wish my ducks were like that!

Hmmm..... Yes I think it was probably both of us that we're feeling broody over them.

Having a good hatch this weekend with the Dewlaps and so far hatched another 2 Buff females from another pair. First time we've paired them and this was a Grey (Split) Gander to Grey female. We're also just waiting for another Buff to hatch from another pair that could be male or female which will bring us up to 6 this years from 2 different bloodlines

The last one has just popped the cap of the egg and now needs to rest and push off the bottom section.

Very pleased all round as our results have improved considerably. Since adapting our incubation techniques we've had a 86% success rate in the Dewlaps which are usually the most difficult.

More than happy as we've had 4 Buffs from our Best Grey Split Male to Buff Female and these can be either male or female. (this mating should give 50% Greys and 50% Buffs).

Then we've had 2 Buffs for the first time from a Grey Split Male to a Grey Female. (this mating should give 25% Buff daughters).

Looking forward to growing them on and this will really help establish our Buff breeding programme here in the UK. We're even hoping for perhaps 1 or 2 more as still have eggs in the incubator
