That is not good. Hopefully you made you point and he won't be back. I am so ecxcited to have my dh put up more fencing for my flock to have more room to move around but on the other end it puts them further away from the house, which makes me nervous. So I understand where your coming from with the dog, I cannot afford another dog [4]or I would be thinking along those lines.Maybe I need a pyranees to live in the bird pens. Today, I shot at a pit bull circling the back of my pens. I got out the 12 gauge and shot near enough to pepper his bum, but not hit him. He ran like his tail was on fire. Is one enough???
All 4 of our dogs are indoor, I mean they go outside but like today, they are all laying next to the wood stove with a blankie on top of them. We've got two indoor dogs (huge mutt and minnie mutt) but no outdoor dogs. I think I'd feel better knowing one was there. I think Buddy would be OK hanging out in the pens, he's never messed with the birds at all ever (he was raised with ducks in their pen with them during the day) so I may start putting him in by day, but I'd feel better with a full timer on board. I suppose he/she could go in and out of the pens and barn with the flock, but soon the flock will have to be outdoors. I will worry again then.
