Marty, she looks much better already!! So happy to hear the positive update!! FYI, my May hatchlings range from 14-18lbs, so weight is good, especially if she is on the small side.

Here is my poor baby en route to vet. Both eyes all covered with white foam. Swelling in nose causing this, and nasal breathing hard for her.

So, vet, sweet fellow he is, checked HER out real well. Found Canine bite marks, and believes a dog is involved. He found bad swelling of her head and upper neck, and she has been prescribed an anti inflamatory and antibiotics. Bad bruising to her bill, too. Some damage is from the fall into the semi empty pool, then more damage from time in ucky pool Good call on the molasses Celtic, he thinks it helped her make it to now. Believes she was in some pain, so gave her a little something for tonight. She is resting comfortably now. I dose her for 3 more days at about 4 pm orally. (this is not easy - hard to open her beak!)

Outlook good, but next 24 hours are gonna be a little rough, and he though 3-4 days (like Celtic said) before she'd be up and around.
poor baby .... glad the out look is good

Relieved to hear all the news Marty, just wish it had never happened. But with your TLC I'm sure she'll recover . Did you ever figure out where the dogs came from that did this? I think thats all of ours worse night mare. Love and prayers to you both.

Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes for baby girl. She does have another name, but I'd have to consult the right daughter (if she remembers). I'm pretty sure she's the littlest goose of the lot, Iain. We know that we've had dog troubles about a month ago, and we tightened up fences and weighted bottoms. In her case, I suppose either she stuck her head out the fence and a dog grabbed her, or our big dog, which had never had problems yet did it, but he would have had to do it in the 5 minutes he was with me while I mixed grain. And, she was soaked and cold, so it seemed as though she'd been there longer. We're going to put up some 36" chicken wire on the inside of our existing fence, to prevent anyone from sticking their heads out into harms reach.

I woke up later than usual, so I'm off to check on her now.

She must be filling a bit better. One eye was mostly clear, and the other was less foamy. She's not walking, but she's motivating herself around her confined area (visitors outside her space only). Right now shes angles to catch the sun in the barn door. Since the other geese are out, I opened her little area, and shes got "run" of the whole goose area, and I put a gate accross the one open barn door, for her security.
