Should be a red sex-link, right?? Red/gold roo on a white rock hen is supposed to be one of the crosses for RSL, so I assumed I could use a white leghorn instead of the rock. All but one of the chicks that have hatched out of the white eggs have been buff/white, like I expected, but one clearly did not get the memo.

The strain of White Rocks that are used to make sex links all have the silver gene. So they aren't just white birds they're silver gened white birds.

If your White Leghorn hen also has the silver gene -which is possible- her offspring will be sex linked. But it's also possible that she is just dominant white in which case they won't be sex linked.

Make sense?
