Buff Orp rooster?

Yeah, they weren't chicken-zilla by any means and they were just hatchery stock birds, but it is what it is and EDIBLE CHICKEN was what it was...really in size the legs weren't all that far off from some of the 4lb things you see at the store - we like dark meat best round here anyways, so for us it was a good thing

(And I am an admitted "crispy skin pick-er off-er so that was pretty good too!)

I dunno, like I said it's what you make of it. I'm never gonna raise show quality birds of any sort, but it is at least a useful purpose for the excess roos. I myself draw the line at cooking dinner for the dogs - I do have one that has to eat "100% grain free" or she goes BALD and for her I do whip up a special blend of stuff...but otherwise the other 3 get plain old dog food...she's just a special case. They all get yogurt made from goat milk, because that is easy and near effortless, but until the dogs start feeding and plucking these things they ain't getting my chickens scrawny or not! I don't care HOW much they guard...just not sharing that freely

Hatchery BO may not have a lot of breast meat but they do have big meaty legs and thighs. Heck yeah, go for it! You may be looking at a cross but I bet they'll still be tasty as can be.
