It has been a month since my 1 1/2 yr old Buff Orpington stopped laying. She is otherwise healthy, not molting, not trying to lay (not visiting nest box or straining)...just gradually stopped laying. It occurred to me last night as I was getting their feed ready...should I change feeds since she is not producing eggs? I have a flock of 7 hens, all about the same age and everyone else is laying fine. I mix their feed as 2/3 layer feed and 1/3 flock raiser. (I do that because when they are fed straight layer feed I get alot of excess calcium on shells). I have read when a hen isn't laying excess calcium can damage their kidneys. It would be impossible to feed her separate. Should I change their feed or the ratios of what I'm currently giving?
