Buff Orpington .. Boy or Girl?

You have absolutely nothing to worry about as far as the ones in you pics are concerned...can't say about the one in your tomatoes. If it is a roo, it would be a real shame that you couldn't keep him. Those are some of the most beautiful Buff Orpingtons I have ever seen. Would be nice if you could hatch more of them out.

I second that. Your BO are just gorgeous! My buff took the longest to lay as well. Being a larger breed makes them take a little longer to mature, just like with dogs.

Thank you. I think they are pretty, too.

I'm pretty sure the one in the tomatoes is a pullet .. but, you never know .. until you KNOW, huh? I'm pretty sure these girls came from McMurray & ... because that's the catalog they pulled.
I kinda had my heart set on the Delawares because I like the looks of them. But my little chickie-poos are my love, now

This was my first time so I played it safe and went to the feed store. As it happens, they weren't moving their chicks very well so I held off until they were about 2 weeks old. I was too afraid of them dying to take the chance with eggs.

If the other looks like them (comb, wattles and tail) then you have a wonderful trio of buff pullets. If you don't have one, you should find a handsome man for them.

May I ask where you got them? Don't see many of that caliber in this area. Congrats.

Where did I get them? Got 'em at a local feed store here in Northern, northern California ... just a couple hours south of Oregon. I believe they purchased the eggs via McMurray.
They eat well:) My swiss chard, celery and most of my tomato leaves, and a few strawberry plants have fallen prey to their appetite. It's okay, though .. it all grows back
