I had 3 Buff Orpingtons go broody on me, each has her own space in a little room off the main coop where its a little quieter but they are all in a row right next to each other. I received 20 chicks in the mail Wed am and split them up between the three of them. Yesterday I was gone and came home to find that one of the hens had moved herself and her babies into the cage with one of the other hens. Is this normal for Buff Orpingtons to do this?

I just went to check on them and they seemed to have switched boxes. For a few minutes, Mama P had 16 babies, Big E had 4 and Hammond had none. The chicks now seemed to have things figured out even if the Mamas don't.
On the other side of the barn, I have 3 silkie hens in a pile sharing 3 babies. I wouldn't be surprised if the 4th silike join
in.
