Hi all...this is my first experience with chicks so please ignore my ignorance. I have 2 buff orpingtons and I suspect one is a cockerel (I purchased pullets). If it is 100% for sure that it is a cockerel I'll have to find it a new home as I can't have any roosters. The earlier the better obviously. Both of them are about 4 weeks old. I'm including photos of both of them for comparison and the one with the substantial comb is the one I'm suspicious of. He/she is awfully nice at least :) . I haven't noticed any cockiness. And they're going outside very soon...finishing up the coop.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, definite potential for male. However, at only 4 weeks I wouldn't be confident yet. You could start to figure to how to re-home that one if it is a male. Luckily, won't likely crow for awhile yet.

We had 2 males in a batch of 7 sexed chicks that were supposed to all be female. So, we also had to get rid of them and found a livestock auction near us and sold them and got cash in hand. However, our next idea was going to be to post them on the community board at the local feed store. Third, a friend's father has a 100acre farm about 2 hours away from here and he said he would take them as he already has a flock of chickens and plenty of room.
