Hello,
I am not sure if this is a problem or not but my Buff Orpington Hen's feet and legs are reddish/pink. I heard somewhere that this could be just scar tissue from Scaly Leg Mites? I am just wondering if I should be worried or not? Thanks!
1)What type of bird , age and weight. Buff Orpington, 2 years old, healthy weight
2) What is the behavior, exactly. It doesnt seem to bother her at all
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? Since I got her four months ago
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms? No, not that I can tell the other Buff Orpingtons legs are a normal whitiesh color
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. No
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. I do not know, I have heard it could possibly have been scar tissue from scaly leg mites?
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. Layer Crumble, fresh clean water, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. Normal
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? None so far
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? Myself
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use Pine Shavings, Large house type coop, 25ft x 15ft run. They are kept warm, clean and dry.
