i recently moved and brought my 2 chickens, a buff orpington and a rhode island red, both about a year and a half old with me to a new home. the drive itself was only 40 mins. away and we did the move around dusk. they have also been introduced to dogs for the first time and the dogs are very mild around them and typically show little interest other than the occasional sniff. the backyard has plenty of shade and plenty of places to scratch around, however the buff has quit laying however she still squats as the rhodie has continued without a skip to lay! is this normal and when could i expect her to continue laying? this is my first go at chickens so any help would be appreciated!

Their are many reasons why she would not be laying- She may even be hiding her eggs in a secret spot in the yard!

Here and a few reasons:

-Improper nutrition

-An undiscovered pest may be eating the eggs

- She may have a health problem

-She may have gone broody

-She might just be taking a break ( Some breeds of chicken do not lay an egg every day.)

I hope this can help you!
