Buff Orpington Rooster? Please Help!!

... the only problem is that my family is a little iffy about eating fertilized eggs.

We have some people in our coop co-op who were very negative and vocal about the possibility of eating fertilized eggs. I found this link extremely helpful:

So ... now when someone tells me they think the fertilized eggs are gross because of the icky blood spots, I'll be able to give them not one but TWO mini lectures about eggs!

haha cool!

I got eleven roosters and they start at 6 am crowing i dont hear them but my girlfriend does its nice to wake up to roosters

Ummmm, there is one who crows All. Night. Long. Otherwise they start getting noisy as soon as the sky starts to brighten, which is a moving target at our latitude (about the 45th parallel). I think having more than one rooster makes them compete for noisiest bird ... they tend to answer each other's crows.

Also, can anyone tell me if their roosters crow EARLY in the morning?

Both of my cockerels began crowing at around 9 - 10 weeks old. Initially, it was some pitiful sounds at about 6:30ish every morning. -progressed to decent crows at 6:30.....then 6:00.....then 5:40....and now 5:20 AM!

Because we live in a suburban neighborhood (although roos are permitted - still have a noise ordinance), we bring the little guys in at 5:15 every day. (They happily crow in the utility room, serenading the hubby and me over morning coffee....) -am hoping that this is as early as it gets.

thanks! what is 2 toned? and when will i see if the chick is 2 toned.
I am reallllllly curious about this, too. I have 2 Buff Orpingtons that are about two weeks old, now. They were labeled (guaranteed) to be pullets. I studied up on the whole "feather sexing" thing before picking mine out of the group. Their tails are long and fluffy (like all of my other pullets have been), no pink in the comb, BUT they do have 2-toned looking feathers. -white on the longest wing layer, light tan all over (and 2nd wing layer), and a darker tan coming in on the back at the necks. YIKES! I sure am hoping these are gals, 'cause I already have 2 banty guys that think they own the place.....
