Hi all,

I only have 3 chickens about 2 weeks old. This is my first time owning chickens and as my buff grows it is bigger than my golden and silver laced wyandottes. I don't know enough about the breed so maybe this is normal but if anyone can give some advice on if I have a male or female that would be great. I will attach pictures that might help.

Thank you,

Yes, still too young. Unless it's a sex linked chicken meaning the pullets are a different colour of down or plumage from the cockerels at birth, you can't accurately sex until at least 6 weeks. Pure breeds have too wait.
Thank you, I bought them because they were vented but I know that is not 100 percent accurate. I'm just worried about getting a rooster.

I wouldn't be too worried if they are sexed by the hatchery to be females.

A word of advice: enjoy them while they are still in their fluffy glory instead of worrying about them being cockerels and getting too attached.

I currently have 3 silkie chicks (straight run) that I am trying to just enjoy, but it sure is hard knowing they may be cockerels (especially with my anxiety) that you can not keep. It's hard, but just don't worry about them until they are much older. :D:D:D
