Buff Orpington - small chick

We got 4 buffs from a very reliable breeder. 90% sexing accuracy but not guaranteed. We have 1 chick who is much smaller than the rest. She still eats, drinks, and interacts fine, so we haven't worried about it. Just a late bloomer or petite, we say.

I've had a runty chick before. It ended up working itself out. It does look like a BO chick. If you're worried, you could give a vitamin supplement and watch for bullying.

Yes, I was advised to give Nutri-Drench both a straight shot and in the water. Also was advised to add raw egg with fish; the little runt is loving the egg/fish and is showing improvement. So far there is no bullying. The runt can push her way through the larger chicks to get to the food.

The buffs are very cute. I had one for a while. Sometimes they just take longer to get feathers. Especially the runts. They seem to be a bit slow.

Thank you. Dottie is hanging in there with the larger chicks. Hope she continues to improve.

My lavender orpington is half the size of his "sisters" hatched the same day. I think it just sometimes happens.
