"Sons Of Midas"

Finally had a sunny day to take a few pics ") 3 Young fellows I hatched out this Season. Each has a different hatch date.... thus explaining the different stages of maturity.... also... Our weather has been hard on my birds in the grow out yards... soo their conditioning could certainly be better.

Vivi and I are very proud of them :)

Very NICE!

This is Artemus, who is also 4 weeks old today. Not so sure we will be able to keep that name, since its a Greek Goddess, and I'm not convinced this one is the pullet it was supposed to be. Lol

It wouldn't be the first male Artemus - my greatgrandfather was named Artemus/Artemas. Not sure why he was named that, but he probably would have taken offense at being called a girl too. :)

From Chino Valley, AZ - The Porter Managerie - 4 horses, 4 cats, 2 dogs, 1 rabbit, 2 goats and 8 Buff Orpingtons, one surprise rooster. In to all natural gardening and was so excited when my hens started laying albeit they were small eggs but perfectly formed and clean and miracles of all miracles, they laid their eggs in the brood boxes. No golf balls or artificial eggs needed to show them where to lay. Love the Buff Orpingtons. Lived in Indiana on a farm and we had a huge flock of Leghorns. No pets there but the BOs are so very docile and sweet, even the rooster.

I plan to have 8 buffs by the time I am done. We will let a broody hen raise 4 or 5 more each year and continue the cycle over and over. I do have other breeds of birds but the buffs will be the only ones that I breed again and again.
