*Buff Orpington Thread!*

Why are my girls not laying yet? We do not have everyone else's winters. I live in the desert and we have 65-70 degree weather right now. It should be great laying weather? I want my eggs!!! They are about 20 weeks old at this point-not sure exact age, I lost track. They were born in late July I think.

Ok I checked and they are 22 weeks old.

My girls are about the same age as yours and they started laying last Wednesday. Make sure they are getting 12 to 14 hours of light each day.

OK it has been about 12 days since my girls have started laying and they have given my me about 41/2 dz eggs and the day is not over yet. I have only found 2 eggs on the floor of the coop, They have taken to the nest boxes nicely. The eggs are small but delicious. Does any one know how long it takes for the eggs to get full size? Several hens are broody. I can't wait till spring to see if they will hatch.

Trying to pick out a new breed for my self so I've got a ton of questions.
1) do they go broody?

2) can I get a good carcass by 5/6 months of age?

3) what's the laying ability like?

4) cold hardy?

5) good feed conversion ratio?

That's all I got for now. Thanks.
