*Buff Orpington Thread!*

Its Safeguard day! Just treated the 1st one by myself. I'm not sure I am ready to do the rest without assistance. Lol Its not as easy as medicating a dog, and I'm afraid I'll do it wrong with them wiggling and they will asparate it!!! Think I'll wait for my sweety to get home from work!

It's easy if you let them stand on a table. Then put your arm around the bird, and open the beak. Slowly drizzle in the Safeguard from the side with the other hand. They don't fight standing up.

I'd listen to thedragonlady. She is probably the best person I know of for chicken advice. She is a top breeder after all.

I feel like the pied piper of chickens. No matter when or where I go outside my buffs are right behind me. Every evening when I go to feed the horses they follow me from stall to stall always chattering. If they get waylaid along the way and I get ahead of them they run like crazy to catch up with me. Is this common behavior for the buffs only or are there other breeds that are like this. I have several that want to sit on my lap or on my shoulder and sometimes it gets really crowded. I have one that wants to be held all the time. As I have said in the past, I've had chickens before but none like the buffs. Absolutely adore these birds - so sweet, so personable, so friendly and the list could go on.

Buffs are like egg laying dogs. They just want to please, be loved and be with you. I have a couple that like to sit on my lap and shoulder to.

Here are my baby buffs :)

Waited for my sweety's help, but did it the way you said. MUCH easier, & I didn't feel like any of them were going to asparate it! Thanks so much for your advice!

Also, I personally shouldn't have to be concerned with having poultry lice anytime soon. Was powdering then all as we caught them, & had a surprise major wing flapping going on once. Lol Thank Goodness for saftey glasses!!!!

Last month we went to the Fort Worth Stock Show. The Buff Cockerels that we took are the same age, nine months. The one that I thought would have the best chance to win, took second to his brother cockerel. The first attached picture is the Judges pick and second picture was my pick. What do you think?

Nice Buff Roo's...Are these English?
