Bella and her chick are out for good now. I didn't want to leave them out the first day I left them out as we had a Heron hanging about. I left her out yesterday and she was fine so today is the day that they are officially free range. We've got Seagulls coming out way now but the gamekeepers seem to be keeping on top of them as they will be stopping them getting Pheasant and Grouse chicks. She's also hanging around in the woods which is good as it provides her with cover from sky predators.

Maybes Bella's mother just wants to help Bella with her chick. Her and her chicks are staying close to Bella's and her baby. She's not attacking her or trying to steal it this time!

First time have seen daisy off her nest since she started sitting

Hi everyone! I'm new to this thread! I love buff orps! They are my fave breed!! I have three; Gracie, Sunnie and Daisy.

Seagulls are more likely. Will just steal young ones if they get the chance. Herons will even go as far as sticking their beaks under the hens! They would probably only do that if they were really hungry!

All the chicks weren't happy with the weather today. The two big ones were wanting to go to bed at like 2 but the mother was having none of them and took them back out and Bella's chick was just peeping and wouldn't eat, so bella took it into the shed and warmed it up so I put some food in and it ate in the end!

I love Bella's chick so much! Think I will have to keep it regardless of sex!

I can barely wait I have ordered buff orphington chicks today. I have to get their little coop and run ready. I will have 3 hens and a roo. Naturally they will be spoiled. Thanks Piglet.

I'm getting some baby legbars on 1st June
Might try find some orpingtons to put in with them

Do BO chicks grow fairly fast? Mine are much bigger as compared to my other breeds of the same age. They are pretty bossy too!
