*Buff Orpington Thread!*

I love my BO's I have 3 benedict- loves all of us runs to us and wants a snuggle- scrambled who will hop on your shoulder and screech when you pet her but keeps coming back for more.. and sunny who is a little shy but is quiet and usually the second one in line for the shoulder perch. BOs are the friendliest girls that I have. they have been non-aggressive with newer chicks. Only concern in my climate (southern Arizona) they are not heat tolerant so have to keep them cool for sure. no other worries so far with my BOs. I have EEs and California Whites too.

Well, it's confirmed as of this morning, one of my 4 BOs is a roo. First crow I thought something was wrong. Second crow I was like, "Ooohhhhh!" So Cora of my Downton Coop is now Lord Grantham. Lol! Fortunately I'm in the process of selling my current home and buying something in the country, so I don't have to get rid of him. So far, he's the friendliest of the four, although all four are like golden retrievers! After I move, I guess I'll have to add more girls, otherwise he'll likely wear the three girls out!

Congratulations on getting a place in the country. If you start a thread about your new digs...send me a link. I'd really enjoy following your progress.

I remember the first time I heard our young rooster crow...I was like," What the heck was that?" It was my wife that clued me in that it was our young rooster learning to crow.

Well we got our first set of buff orpingtons from mpc about 2 weeks ago. I only got 2 just to see what all the fuss was about and I have to say I've already fallen in love. They are the sweetest chickens I've ever owned. They are the first in our laps or in our hands. They just love to be snuggled. We will definitely be getting more. :)

Here is Batman. He is a Barred Rock on top of either a buff or cuckoo maran. I am leaning more towards buff. Thoughts? How would I know or do I have to wait till he is full grown. We can't keep him since our town is a no rooster town.

I love my buffs! I have two in my flock and they are so gentle. I noticed one of mine has some darker spots in her tail feathers, is this normal?

Pictures are just because :)

Well I got my 6 girls today!! 4 BO and 2BR! They seem to be doing well, all are drinking and eating well. And no pasty butt so far! (I'm paranoid) How often should I be holding them so they can get use to it? I would alternate holding them all day :D but not sure if that's best for them. Thanks for any advice
