*Buff Orpington Thread!*

When I go out into the yard, one of my girls comes up to me and grabs my pants leg and tugs on it until I pick her up and hold her. I enjoy interacting with my birds, but I can't say as I've ever had a bird that enjoys interacting with me as much as this little pullet.

OMG, that is too funny!! This is our first time having chickens. We had no idea they were so funny and entertaining!
They jump up on stuff and peek in our windows, or come up to the screen door!
We are learning everything from this site, and love all you great people!

I was wondering what I could do to help out a chick that just hatch. It's not a buff Orpington but a gold laced English Orpington, it gatched with a severely crooked beak that is to the left, and is missing it's left eye I was wondering on how to help out this little angel. It just hatched so it's resting right now as are the others, but I was wondering how to care for this little special needs angel. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

They look like comets or red stars. :)

Thanks! One more question..... They free range most of the day. I think they are getting ready to lay as they are doing the dance whenever I get near them LOL. How do I keep them from laying in the woods. I'd like to keep them in their Coop but I don't know if they lay in the morning or not?

I kept mine in the coop once they were laying. They started laying in the nesting boxes on their own. Once they chose their spot they won't lay elsewhere now. I have to keep mine in a run though. My friend free ranges on 40 acres and can never find her eggs lol. I think if she had kept them in the coop for a week then she probably wouldn't have that problem. Once they establish a favorite spot they can be downright territorial lol. Good luck.
